Microsand sueding machine for woven fabrics
Lafer has always encountered much success with its sueding machines, first with the double drum emerizer GSMI-224 then with the Ultrasoft brush sueding machine which soon becomes a market reference.


In order to satisfy the new requirements Lafer has recently introduced the Microsand that is is a dry sueding machine using a special diamond emery denominated Carbosint, with a sueding effect that is very close to the wet sueding effect, but without all the problems and costs of the wet sueding process.

The new sueding effect has been given the name “APRICOT EFFECT”, which gives a very soft handle but does not present surface hairyness. The MicroSand is the first sueding machine that can run all types of very light weight fabrics without any problems.

On this machine the following common problems of the wet sueding process are eliminated:

problems with lines

not being able to see the sueding quality until the fabric is dried

high cost of drying the fabric

not being able to control tear strength of the fabric until the fabric has been dried

risk of uneven sueding due to uneven distribution of water on the fabric

need of several processes for finishing the fabric

We believe that this process will also replace wet sueding, as it is a much cheaper and easier way of producing this type of sueding effect and with only one process instead of 3-5 processes as required when working with wet sueding machines.

Maximum flexibility through various operating modes
The MicroSand is equipped with a very advanced electronic system and a very advanced tension control system for running all types of woven fabric. The machine can be run in different operating modes according to the different type of fabric to be processed:
The drum can rotate in both directions with adjustable speed. The sueding rollers are divided in two alternate groups that can run at adjustable speed:

All in the same direction of the fabric

All against the fabric

Half with and half against the direction of the fabric

Long emery lifetime
One of the advantages of the Carbosint its very long lifetime. Besides ensuring greater sueding uniformity, the long lifetime makes the Microsand more practical than machines that use conventional emery that must be frequently replaced.
